The Filmtett Association, based in Cluj-Napoca, was established in 2005. Its goal is to publish the Filmtett Motion Picture Monthly – which has been the Filmtett Transylvanian Film Portal since 2008 – as well as to organize the Filmtett Workshop, a summer film creation camp, and the Filmtettfeszt Transylvanian Hungarian Film Festival. Our association also occasionally engages in the publication of specialized books, organizing competitions, and other film-related workshops and events.
We first ventured into traditional film distribution in 2016; the idea was closely tied to the organizational experiences gathered from the Filmtettfeszt Transylvanian Hungarian Film Festival, which spans 15 cities. For years, one of our emphasized goals has been to bring high-quality Hungarian films to Romanian audiences. The theatrical distribution of these films enables local viewers to encounter the latest gems of Hungarian film culture not just during festivals but several times throughout the year, in more everyday settings.
Our aim is to present at least two or three Hungarian films annually in Romanian cinemas, selecting the best from both artistically ambitious works and popular audience successes.
